Total Triage - new way of managing appointments

Date: 22nd Apr 2026

Dear Patients,

We are introducing a new way of managing appointments called Total Triage.

From Wednesday 29th April, all requests for GP appointments will first be assessed by our clinical team. This helps us ensure you receive the right care, from the right professional, at the right time.

Why are we making this change?

Total Triage helps us:

  • Improve access to care
  • Prioritise urgent needs more effectively
  • Reduce waiting times
  • Ensure patients are seen by the most appropriate clinician
  • There are ever increasing demands from Government targets and patient demand meaning more practices are rapidly turning to this way of working.

What does this mean for you?

  • A quick and easy form will need to be completed via our website. This is to give details directly to the clinician on what the appointment is needed for – the more detail the better for the clinician
  • You will need to submit your request online.
  • A member of the reception team will be on hand to complete the forms on behalf of the elderly, disabled patients or those that aren’t IT friendly or don’t have access to the internet, this service is available either at reception or by the phone. We only expect to provide this service for a small number of patients, and we expect patients to do their own forms where possible.
  • All appointment requests will be reviewed and then a booking link will be sent via email to the majority of patients to the contact details we hold on file – Please ensure we have your up-to-date email address and that you check your junk folder often.
  • You may be offered:
    • A same-day response
    • A telephone consultation
    • A face-to-face appointment if needed
    • Advice or signposting to the most appropriate service

How to get help

  • Use our online form via our website (recommended)
  • Call the practice
  • Visit reception if you are unable to access online or phone services

If you need urgent medical help, please inform us immediately when contacting the practice.

Thank you for your understanding
